Histadrut - (Hebrew) (or Histadruth) The Zionist trade union founded in 1920. Originally excluded Arabs and promoted Avoda Ivrit  - Jewish Labor. Histadrut was for a long time the single most powerful nongovernmental force in Israel, and was responsible for a school network and the Kupat Holim Medical service.
