Christian Zionism
These promises summarized in Ezekiel 36 include the restoration of the land, the return of the people and spiritual reconciliation. There is nothing heretical about this and on the contrary Christian Zionist are doers of the Word. We pray (Psalm 122), we give (Romans 15:27) and believe God’s promises for the nation of Israel. The converse of this position is Replacement Theology which cancels any further place for Israel in God’s plans and which provided much of the justification for centuries of persecution of Jewish people. This included the horrors of the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition and ultimately the Holocaust.
Christian Zionists do not base their theological position on end-time prophecy, but on the faithful covenant promises of God given to Abraham some four thousand years ago. They do not have a “thirst for Armageddon,” and do not claim to know the sequence of events that will lead to it.
Christian Zionists through their generosity and faithful prayers provide a daily demonstration of God’s love and mercy. They are also mindful that, while it may seem politically expedient in the short term to “divide up the land” that God calls “My Land” (Joel 3:2), there is a future consequence both at a personal and national level.
