What's wrong with boycotts and divestment initiatives?

Why shouldn't churches, universities and others boycott Israel, Israeli products, firms that do business with Israel or the occupation  and Israeli academics? This tactic worked in righting injustices in South Africa.

The assumption that Israel is like South Africa is inherently anti-Zionist and racist. It assumes that the Jewish people have no right to self-determination. Initiatives that single out Israel assume that all the fault in the conflict is on one side, and ignore terrorism. Those who sponsor these initiatives admit that their goal is the destruction of Israel. No other state is singled out for this treatment despite flagrant violations of human rights in China, Sudan, Iran, Libya and elsewhere.
